Accelerated Intelligence Production
The Spiral Solutions and Technologies AIP team is chartered to provide support and data analysis for RC-135 operations.
Highly Technical Core of Expertise
Primarily, we provide the support necessary to maintain a highly technically oriented core of expertise in RC-135 data processing. This core capability provides the equipment and technical expertise needed to calibrate, compensate, and reformat raw data into a product commonly referred to as data services.
Comprised of Analysts and Engineers, the AIP Team is responsible for assisting in the execution of RC-135 intelligence mission (Collection, Production, Exploitation, and Dissemination) by providing dataflow support. We determine suitability of improvement projects in stratifying mission requirements, verify compliance of proposed projects with architectural standards and recommends solutions, and create systems integration plans for projects and ensure integration during project completion. AIP also builds processes, information interaction, and dataflow models for our clients.
Processing and Supporting Data Needs
Our AIP engineers provide services for data collection, pre-processing, manipulation, extracting, reporting, and maintenance. The team is responsible for collecting complete, accurate, valid, and timely data, and maintaining that data - ensuring accuracy and quality of data and implementing programs for data quality improvement. We monitor data storage by identifying storage locations and determining archiving requirements for data elements. Our engineers resolve conflicts in the definition of centrally-used administrative data attributes, data policy, and determine the most reliable source for data. We assist operations in prioritizing and the management of collected intelligence data, which includes identifying which data is most critical and assigning management priorities to all data entities and sources. As well, our team provides consulting services as needed to assist analysts on and use of data manipulation tools.
Finally, the AIP Team researches and evaluates new technologies to provide recommendations to the 55th Wing, Offutt AFB, Nebraska.
Provide Infrastructure Support
In support of our contract, the AIP team analyzes existing technical infrastructures and proposes infrastructure change to certify proposed technology to determine and document architectural variance requirements. Our team members analyze and document configuration options to accommodate operations, interface and integration of multiple systems. The team's engineers evaluate the impact of proposed operating systems on the existing technical architectures and evaluate support impact for both compliant and non-compliant projects. In a data management and data pre-processing role, our data specialists integrate different systems into a common informational system and coordinates different needs of users into a common system design. And we are responsible for coordinating the development of databases and files to insure data integration and uniqueness of data between systems. AIP monitors and reviews system performance and user problems to determine system changes or enhancements; bug-fixing; and fine-tuning of systems.
Conduct Research, Development, Testing and Deployment on Tools and Processing Systems
The AIP Team is able to conduct short-notice research, development, testing, and deployment on data reduction tools and processing systems. This accelerated testing cycle provides key results for incorporating the new technologies directly onto the aircraft and into the data production cycle. The processing systems enable refined analytical problem-solving, immediately impacting future tasking, targeting, and direct intelligence to the customer and end-user.
Staying Ahead in a Rapidly Evolving Environment
The AIP Team normally operates day-to-day in an inherently dynamic intelligence data arena. To combat this domain AIP adopted the philosophy of constantly outlining the existing challenges. This allows AIP to address issues with a “head-on” approach, normally applying time management and task reasoning to any quick reaction requirement. All AIP resources are managed with unparalleled oversight. Requirements and projects are executed with purpose, on time, and on budget.
Setting The Standards
Lastly, our staff on the AIP contract continue to set the standards by integrating multiple system classifications into office, classroom and production area environments. Stand-alone systems and software are routinely integrated into higher level classification systems. Formerly stand-alone systems/system data is integrated and available to users within a set goal of 24hrs upon data receipt and most often less than 24hrs.
AIP tests or evaluates many products and processes, dividing the projects into two main categories:
- Developmental evaluation
- Implementation evaluation
The development evaluation assesses the effectiveness of project components, systems, and architectures while the implementation evaluation assesses the effectiveness of the overall project. The purpose of the assessments are to provide timely, systematic, and useful information back to the technical team, while at the same time providing feedback to the designing organization to ensure quality of the project. This information and feedback is critical to making informed and accurate design and implementation decisions, which will inevitably lead to producing a better product.
